I don't know if "regardless of gender" part applies, but the other part definitely does. I'm deeply attracted to intelligent people. Intelligence is the first prerequisite of being sexy. No matter how much a person is attractive, if he's empty as a nutshell, he's not attractive anymore from my point of view. That's why the first 5 minutes of conversation with a guy is crucial for understanding a lot of things!!But more on that later.
It is not always sexual, I just admire intelligent people and want to be around them. That's why a lot of people were surprised when I said I liked our calculus professor. :) I was also quite keen on our linear algebra professor. Nowadays my thesis advisor is quite a genius himself :)
Maybe that's what being an engineer does to you. Then again, I also don't have stupid friends. I run away from stupid people like plague. I think being intelligent and knowledgeable is like a prerequisite for people in my life. If my friends don't know enough about math,science or geeky stuff, then they have a higher eq to balance that part of me. Basically I like people who I can learn from, with whom I can have deep conversations for hours.
